WHAT IS COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY?

Counselling/Psychotherapy offers an impartial relationship in which the client/s can explore specific issues and develop more satisfying and resourceful ways of living.

The therapeutic process is guided by a respect for the rights and dignity of the client and is based on informed/freedom of consent.

A supportive and constructive working alliance between client and counsellor/psychotherapist empowers the client to explore any psychological, emotional and/or mental health difficulties, thus alleviating distress and promoting a greater sense of personal resourcefulness and well being.

Emotional and mental health is not seen in isolation but rather as part of the overall health and well being of clients.

Referrals to the EAST CLARE PRIMARY CARE COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICE come from self-referral as well as general practice (GPs), psychiatry, psychology, community health, community mental health, pastoral care, schools, universities, hospices, hospitals and family law.
